saulwilliams I first encountered Ted Hearne through @mivosquartetfour when he was commissioned to compose what later became “The Answer To The Question That Wings Ask” (out today!). He later approached me to help him write the libretto of a piece he was commissioned by the @laphil to compose #Place - which premiered at @bam_brooklyn last year and was scheduled to premiere @waltdisneyconcerthall last week. Thankfully, the music, the masterful composition, along with the voices of the original cast are all to be shared with the world today. This is the fascist nostalgia that makes big business stay in bed with the government. This is the war machine. This is how democracy & unbridled capitalism intersect with self-hate, self-righteousness, patriarchy & the desire to control & belong.
This how poets write songs, the backdrop of how revolutionaries are born.
