dolcegabbana Brightly coloured like the oranges that grow succulent and juicy in the Sicilian lands. #DGSicily58 #DGFattoAMano
dolcegabbana The Scalinata di Santa Maria del Monte was built in 1606 to connect the historical part of Caltagirone to the new part of the city, built higher up. Over 130 metres long and with a total of 142 steps, every single one is different to the other and they are all decorated with the typical majolica ceramic, a pattern that has propelled the town to fame. #DGSicily62 #DGFattoAMano

dolcegabbana The Cassata Siciliana is a soft sponge cake moistened with fruit juices, layered with ricotta cheese and covered with a marzipan shell. The Cassata is well known for its delicious taste and for its colorful design made by candied fruits and coloured icing. #DGSicily62 #DGFattoAMano

dolcegabbana The pink of the #DGSicily62 reflects the rosy tinge that submerges the piazza Duomo at sunset, bathed in the light of the warm sun. #DGDNA
dolcegabbana The Duomo di Siracusa lies in the center of Ortigya island, the oldest part of the town. Once a Greek temple, the interiors combine greek columns with baroque styles and details. The cathedral shares the Piazza Duomo with the Church of Santa Lucia alla Badia, the patroness of the city. #DGSicily62 #DGFattoAMano

dolcegabbana The “Granita" is the typical Sicilian breakfast, especially in the summer. A particularly traditional pairing is the coffee granita with the almond one, served with whipped cream. Almonds are very common in Sicily, the ancient Phoenicians introduced them and now they are part of the rich culinary tradition of the island that includes “Paste di Mandorla” or even the almond milk, a refreshing drink to which coffee is often added. #DGSicily62 #DGFattoAMano

dolcegabbana In the Sicilian town of Marzamemi lies the old "Chiesa della tonnara" that was built for the prince of Villadorata on the architectural complex of the adjacent Tuna Plant. Situated in the local square, this church faces another, more recent one. The devotion to the local patron, "San Francesco di Paola" is so strong that both churches are named after him. #DGSicily58 #DGDNA

dolcegabbana A sweet Sicilian breakfast. The traditional “brioscia”, here without its added "tuppo" is paired with a “granita di gelsi”. This fruit, similar to a blackberry, is found in very rural areas of the Sicilian countryside, a delicacy that is blended with water, sugar and lemon juice and later freezed to produce a refreshing granita, topped off with whipped cream. #DGSicily58 #DGFattoAMano
