amberrosetamblyn It feels good to be out here in Brooklyn, wearing our masks, being angry together, furious for the countless black and brown men and women who have been brutally murdered by police, or lied about by white women, or had their lives destroyed just because of the color of their skin. Enough is enough. We are demanding accountability and change NOW. #BlackLivesMatter
amberrosetamblyn Picture me as I am now. In this prolonged moment. This unknown. Picture me, no makeup. No filter. Never filler. No razor. Roots exposed. No color. No disguise, no veil for the body. Unpolished. Picture me alone. Lonesome. Surrounded. Embraced. Loved. Scared for the future, raw, open, hope driven. Picture me snarled. Unkept. Caught. Soft. Deadly. Real. Hungry for touch. Bare. Joyful. Settled. Enlightened. Broken. Bloomed. Struggling. Quiet. Screaming. Missed. Missing. Tender.

amberrosetamblyn ✨Writing Workshop!✨
I’m excited to team up with @tuesday_agency to teach this important online writing workshop on May 31st: How to Harness Anger, Despair & Apathy into Necessary Work.
This workshop will be feminist forward and open to all creatives across industries who are feeling stuck and looking to get inspired. The workshop will teach writers how to creatively bypass feelings of despair and inaction during the COVID19 pandemic, and lean into past or present personal stories of triumph, injustice and outrage. We will target the ways in which these feelings are currently manifesting in each of us and work to get them out and onto the page.
✏️📓✏️📓
There are scholarships for anyone who can’t afford the ticket price, so please inquire if this applies to you. We have limited participation space so please sign up soon. Lastly, and most importantly, a portion of the proceeds for this event will benefit the Navajo and Hopi Families COVID19 Relief Fund organized by Ethel Branch.

amberrosetamblyn For The New York Times, here’s a new piece I wrote on ambition and motherhood. Honored to appear alongside these other women in sharing stories about how motherhood changed us.
✨✨✨
Like many women in the entertainment business, I’m used to hearing that I should manage my expectations.
My career as an actress began at age 10 and has spanned more than two decades. Growing up in Hollywood, it was understood that women in front of and behind the camera should curb our aspirations, that the breadth of our success had a limit, our potential, a cap, and to strive for more would merely be humored.
But once I became a mother, my relationship to my career was radically altered, and I was propelled into the multi-hyphenate artist I was always meant to become. When I thought about my daughter’s future, I realized that she would likely be told someday to manage her expectations in the same ways I had been. That thought didn’t just terrify me, it enraged me.
The entertainment business has longstanding roadblocks for women like me, and the thought of my daughter having to navigate them in the difficult ways I had to made me change my approach. I stopped telling myself there was only one path, the one that had been paved before — without women like me in mind. I learned how to off-road.
By seeing myself reflected in my own child, I learned how to fight for myself as an artist, producer, director and writer — without apology. I hope that modeling that fight will arm my daughter with the tools to do the same. (Link in bio)
amberrosetamblyn Honored to have a brand new poem up at The Academy of American Poets (@poetsorg) as part of their #ShelterInPoem series. This poem is an ode to the struggle and resilience of our beloved New York Cities. Swipe through the slides above to read the whole poem. #NewYorkTough
📚📙📖📓
To a New Dawning
From sun’s first shine, we walk all day
through a dream surreal, our minds wander
a new world from inside windowsills.
We go to bed half asleep,
eyes defiant for the crave of news feed,
quenching our dread on the bad blood of blue light
not sent from the moon.
We are devastate-aching,
this can’t be happening,
a nation stationed inside the nightmare
of a leader unfit for awakening.
We grieve in solitary solidarity
for our country, our New York cities; their subways
riding ghosted through the choking channels
of our lungs—
those throats that have known
I can’t breathe
far before our collective chests could not.
We grieve for every building of our boroughs,
from section eight to the unfinished skyscraper’s crane.
Buildings busting with bodies or abandoned by them:
bodies that dance, bodies that sleep,
bodies that virtual meet, eat and drink.
Bodies that cease.
We grieve the gravity
of having to die alone
in a city built on never having to be... (Read the full poem at the link in my bio)
amberrosetamblyn New poem up at @amypoehlersmartgirls for #EarthDay today. Link in my bio. Shoutout to Marlow for this picture of her holding some flowers and reminding me that it’s not all bad, all the time.

FOR EARTH
For Earth, I have spent my life
in an ego’s error,
blundering on the side
of selfish existence,
more often than not.
More often than not,
I have waived away
the warnings of her aches,
while escaping into the safer daydreams of her clouds.
I have let her down
while taking for granted
the exhales of trees;
easy air for my lucky lungs,
so what? I tell myself.
I tell myself
I’m just too busy
reveling in the pride
of my own pulse
to feel the sluggish haul
of her disappearing streams,
to watch the slow cracking open
of the arctic’s skull,
to worship the withering breadth
of her slipping ice.
Everything will be just fine,
I tell myself,
most of the time.
Most of the time,
I’m too busy, too on deadline,
too Real House Wives
of New Jersey,
too tired, too angry
too Twitter, too IG
to worry.
I’m too crunched on time
coining climate hashtags
in leu of conservation,
too Zoom consumed
with happy hour every hour
to talk accountability,
too whatevs
to honor the dirt beneath
which has honored me.
For Earth,
I have made the most
human of excuses. And for us,
she is sending signals
in spades,
signs of every kind,
messages loud and clear:
Pay attention.
Pay attention or pay
the price.
We’re not too busy,
too on deadline,
too Real House Wives
of New Jersey,
too tired, too angry,
too Twitter, too IG
to see.
So see with me.
Our future
our Earth
our time here
depends on it.

amberrosetamblyn Danny Agee, a young boy from Temple, Texas, was scheduled for a brain tumor surgery on the Monday after Easter. The night before the operation, Danny mentioned that he was hungry. When the doctor said he could eat whatever he wanted, he requested one of his favorites: Chick-fil-A. Even though the fast food chain is closed on Sundays, his nurse, Jenny Pearce, wasn’t going to let that stop them. She was able to get in touch with someone at the restaurant, and they made the impossible happen: a Chick-fil-A delivery on a Sunday.
amberrosetamblyn Today on International Women’s Day, I’m giving a shout out to the women I have been through hell and back with. The women I don’t get to see enough, but when I do, we pick right back up where we left off. The women I have held and the women who have held me, both literally and metaphorically. The women I have acted with, got in fights with, wiped up a dance floor with, cried at each other’s weddings with, kissed each other’s brand new babies with, drank a LOT of wine with, had sleep overs with, had meltdowns with, and had life altering experiences with. Here’s to all the sisterhoods out there, who have done the same for each other. Tag your favorite girlfriends and women in your family in the comments below and tell them why they matter in this world. By doing so you will automatically enter them for a chance to win a personally signed copy of my book, Era Of Ignition, from me. (international shipping included.) #InternationalWomensDay #InternationalSisterhood #EraOfIgnition

amberrosetamblyn I...am maybe speechless? Received this letter today. I’m only sharing half of it here, because I want the other half to be filed away with everything else sacred to me, that I privately cherish. I am so grateful for this letter from Mrs. Clinton, and that she took the time to read my book which is coming out in bookstores nationwide this Tuesday 3/5 by the way!) I will look at it often, when I’m feeling low and beaten down and not enough. But also, when I’m thriving and the most alive. #EraOfIgnition
amberrosetamblyn We are thrilled to announce we are expecting and also I am the father (sorry @ryanpierswilliams ) and also we are best friends of 15 years and also we still talk over each other and also we still have deep and meaningful conversations about our fears, desires, ambitions and successes, and also and also and also and also forever.
I love you forever America Ferrera. Thank you for coming out to @the.wing last night and talking all things ignited eras. Thank you for loving me and seeing me through these wild years of my own personal evolution, just as I have seen you. It feels so good to be seen. And it feels so good in return, to see. #EraOfIgnition #15YearsOfSisterhood
amberrosetamblyn Here’s to the body.
The prolific body.
The orphan body.
The adopted body.
The care-taker body.
The song body.
The warrior body.
The crowned body.
The kind body.
The child body.
The mother body.
Here’s to this body.
The body that built me,
blood by bone,
small sweat to sonnet-grown.
Here’s to this body’s alchemy:
The body that birthed,
the body that miscarried,
the body that terminated,
the body that chooses,
the body as chosen.
Here’s to this body’s freedom:
Freedom from the confines
of desired size,
from the clenched mouth
of shame’s cinch,
from what’s thought of it.
I am a freedom from within.
Here’s to this body:
Its slither and swerve,
Its bloom and break.
Here’s to this body
taking up space.
This body, mine.
This body, graced.
Here’s to this body, unfiltered.
Never fake.
Here’s to this body’s language,
an echo of her elders,
a repetition of their fight.
Here’s to all the mothers
and daughters
and sisters inside us.
Here’s to our light.
